People fail to achieve their goals for many reasons, but the most common reason is that they just don't try. Why not? Because trial naturally involves some risk of failure. Some believe it's safer never to try: That way they'll never fail. Or perhaps they don't yet know what their goal / dream is??

Life coaching is really about taking some time to actually look at where you are and stop just for a short while to see if you like it there and if not how you can take small steps to get to where you do actually want to be.

In the Western world it has been thought for some time that if you actually take time out for your self that you are being selfish, its not selfish its selfing, after all in an airplane they always tell you to put on your oxygen mask first so that you can help save others. How can we help others if we don't truly know what it is we want?? George Bernard Shaw captured the concept of selfing when he wrote,

Effective selfing is about narrowly defining our personal goals so that we can effectively and efficiently manage our time, energy and resources. Balancing family, professional, social and spiritual life is no easy task. Making time for yourself and ensuring your unique talents are developed and nurtured can sometimes seem impossible.

Selfing is needed if we are going to fulfill our dreams, goals and aspirations. Is that being selfish? No, it is about being yourself and bringing your best self into the world. We all have special gifts; unfortunately, we sometimes forget who we are and what we are suppose to be doing. Our time is often spent on some unproductive tangent that keeps us from our true purpose in life.

Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions About Life Coaching

  • You’re feeling apprehensive, vulnerable, a little scared or perhaps brimming with optimism that you are taking some powerful steps to get what you want – at last!
  • Coaching is not an inexpensive process but it is one of the most valuable investments you will ever make in yourself so you are right to ask questions about coaching’s efficacy and whether it can deliver what it says it will.
  • Having coached scores of people just like you, I have put together some answers to frequently asked questions and hope they go some way in helping you decide whether coaching is for you at this life stage.

How does coaching work?

Unlike therapy, which takes you back to your past to see where the “pain” might be, coaching is about the here and now and where you want to be.  We work by coming up with realistic and achievable goals, for the short and the long term, along with the occasional big dream too (!) and then help you define a strategy to help get you there.

We will be looking at limiting beliefs, confidence issues and aim to dissolve the obstacles which have held you back in the past.  You’ll be amazed how positive and enabled you will feel from the first session.

 How many sessions will I need?

How long is a piece of string?  Everyone works at their own pace and it just depends on how much you want to achieve and how.  I will say, however, that one or two sessions is rarely enough.  Just as you wouldn’t go to the gym for one session and expect to look like Schwarzenegger or if you go on a diet for a day to lose all the weight you want to; it takes some time for us to change our bad habits or to try on new ways of doing things.

There are no quick-fix solutions in life, sadly.

I would say ideally you should book one a week or one or fortnight to start with (try not to leave it any longer than 3 weeks between sessions) for 3 months to see any real or sustainable change.  However some clients have reported amazing results after 3 sessions.

What do I get for my money?

  • You will also have FREE email access to me between sessions to keep the coaching alive and meaningful for you during the process. 
  • Let me also tell you I go the extra mile for my clients and I don’t get satisfaction until they do and I do everything within my power to help my clients get what they want.

 What do I have to do?

 After getting clarity on what goals you wish to achieve, I will ask that you have an open mind and “try on” new ways of being which initially may feel counter-intuitive to you.  Personal and business development is not about staying in the comfort zone and I will gently push you to help you achieve what it is you desire.

Be open-minded, tell the truth, be prepared for some wonderful surprises and share your progress with your coach along the way.

I ask that my clients are punctual for their sessions and give me 24 hours notice if they need to cancel.

I also ask that my clients enjoy their coaching.  It’s eye-opening, challenging, fun and life changing.  You should look forward to your sessions.

Will it work for me?

 Just like anything in life you only get out what you put in.  I don’t give advice or have the answers – you have all the answers you need within you and that’s where coaching is most powerful; in helping you to unlock those answers.

I do guarantee that you will feel better and more confident and focused after 3 sessions.
