That word - 'regime' - may be the culprit. It can have the same effect on you as the word 'routine'. These words suggest being hard on yourself. Making rules. You can keep it up for a while, but then you just get exhausted!

And once you have fallen off, you are more likely to say to yourself, "What's the point? I'll never manage it!" And then you swing in the opposite direction and over-indulge yourself. Unfortunately, the consequences of that don't exactly make you happy either, do they?

How do you get out of this? Do you just need more will power?

Of course, will power plays a vital role when it comes to making important decisions in your life. If you want to turn things around in your life, you know that you need will power to make the decision to start, and will power to persevere with all the steps required to implement and maintain the changes that you make. So developing your will power is clearly a useful thing to do.

How junk foods can overpower your will

But when it comes to choosing to eat healthy foods, you've already encountered the weak link in the will power approach. Something about that particular moment of choice is stronger than your will. Isn't that what it feels like? Almost as if you've been hijacked. As if the choice for the unhealthy food has been made behind your own back. How does this happen?

When you have a sudden strong desire for something that's right in front of you, it is like being hypnotized. You've heard of hypnotised people experiencing amnesia, 'forgetting' things that they know. This is what those deliciously attractive junk foods can do to you. They make you forget something very important - your future. In that moment, all you can think of is the satisfaction you will enjoy now. It's very hard to resist.

The good news is that you can deliberately use hypnosis to remember.

Hypnotherapy Weight Loss

There are several reasons why a person gains weight.

Sometimes eating too much is actually a manifestation of a more serious psychological condition like depression. As you gain more and more weight, your self-esteem becomes lower and actually causes you isolate yourself and eat more.

Unfortunately, being overweight comes with serious health repercussions. You could have diabetes, heart problems and other diseases.

To avoid these diseases, you could try slimming down or losing weight through a number of different methods like dieting and exercising. If you have difficulties doing it yourself, you can join groups like Weight Watchers.

Eating sensibly would also help. You should avoid eating foods that are laden with fat and carbohydrates. Starving yourself is not a solution. Your body will simply adjust to the starvation and refuse to burn fats.

Controlling what you eat is healthy as long as it does not become an obsession. You may end up slimming down and yet have an eating disorder. Exercise with a friend if you want. This makes slimming down easier and more enjoyable.

Your family can help you by providing you with moral and emotional support. When you feel the urge to eat, distract yourself by watching the television, walking around your block or even brushing your teeth.

If needed, slimming should be done under the supervision of medical experts since sudden weight loss could also pose serious health problems. But if your problem is your inability to refrain from eating due to low self-esteem or depression, you would require some psychotherapy.

Another treatment is Hypnotherapy. It usually involves hypnotism by a qualified person. Your subconscious will be targeted by the therapy and alter your behaviour. The aim is to change your eating habits so that you will no longer feel like eating whenever you feel sad or depressed. Hypnotherapy is relatively cheaper and provides faster results.

Slimming can be accomplished as long as you have the will to do it. As many experts say, it is a matter of mind over body. If you decide to slim down, you would be like taking control of your life once again.

For decades, people have turned to hypnotherapy to help them in all sorts of way, from unearthing and resolving hidden issues from one’s past to severe behaviour modification. Hypnotherapy has been used with great success in helping people quit smoking, build self-esteem, and learn new subjects and skills. It’s no wonder people are turning now to hypnosis to also help them lose weight.

Does it work? For some. Hypnosis works on the unconscious mind through the power of suggestion, and the effectiveness with which a person can be hypnotized depends on how receptive the subject is to the experience. Put another way, hypnosis works best for people who come at it with an “open mind”.

How does hypnosis help a person lose weight? The same way it helps modify any behaviour, by targeting your habits. It is one’s habits that lead to excessive weight gain and obesity, and it’s a change in those habits, replacing old “bad” ones with new “good” ones, that produce the kind of changes that can be sustained.

In a hypnotic state, you can more easily overcome those unconscious obstacles that hinder your weight loss efforts. Most people already know full well that proper diet and exercise is the way to lose weight, and yet so many find themselves helpless to do what they know they “should” be doing.

What causes that is usually an unconscious association from our pasts that we’ve habituated in our everyday lives. These associations become so much a part of us we don’t ever think about them, much less question them. But when we remove our conscious mind from the equation, we’re more easily able to access those deep-seeded assumptions and reprogram them.

A person who continually struggles with diet and exercise programs, jumping from one to another as each in turn proves increasingly fruitless is most likely unconsciously resisting their own aims. As long as this condition remains, every attempt this person makes at weight loss will be equally counterproductive.

Losing weight is a state of mind. A person must be willing to lose weight to lose it – not simply be willing to diet and exercise, but deep down willing to lose weight. Success depends on a winning attitude on an unconscious level that permeates everything you do, whatever you do.

Hypnosis can help you build a new self-image, allowing you to envision yourself at your future weight. Hypnosis can help approach your weight and weight-loss program from am ore relaxed and stress-free perspective. Hypnosis can help build your optimism, enthusiasm and (most importantly) self-esteem for the task. Chances are you have heard about someone who has used hypnosis for weight loss with great success. Since the number of people using hypnosis for this area is growing, we hear more and more success stories of people who have battled weight gain over the years who are now enjoying a slimmer and healthier body through hypnosis.

Okay, you might be asking how hypnosis can help. First, one of the causes of weight gain is too much sugar intake. Hypnosis suggestions can educate the subconscious mind that sugar is not that exciting. The result of reducing sugar intake based off the retrained mind is not only weight loss but also better sleep, better concentration, and overall quality of life.

Another common cause of weight gain is what we call "comfort eating".

How many times have you sat down, frustrated, mad, irritated, depressed, or lonely, finding yourself reaching for a bag of potato chips, a handful of cookies, that half-gallon of ice cream, or some other food to help ease the problem.

Comfort eating is a huge problem for many people and although you might tell yourself repeatedly that you will never turn to food for comfort, it becomes a repetitious problem. Again, hypnosis can be used to teach the subconscious mind ways of relaxing and gain power, and control over the situation so you do not have to turn to food.

With this, you will find that you lose weight and/or keep it off.

Just as you can use hypnosis to stop smoking or other unwanted behaviours, you can use hypnosis to lose weight. The goal is to teach the mind how to shift from one thought process to another.

Take fast food as a perfect example. Most fast foods are loaded with fat and high carbohydrates, which mean excessive calories and unwanted pounds. However, driving past the Taco Bell, Burger King, or McDonald's is impossible.

Now, what if you could use hypnosis to turn the fast food desires off? Well, you can and interestingly, it is not that difficult. With hypnosis, you can actually gain control over fast food impulses, choosing healthy and delicious food instead.

Probably one of the hardest foods to get over is chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate. As mentioned earlier, some chocolate does not automatically mean weight gain. However, if you consume chocolate often, then you will likely have to battle the pounds.

Hypnosis can provide a much-needed boost to your subconscious mind that you have no interest in eating chocolate. Keep in mind that for some people chocolate is an addiction that comes with a strong desire. Again, hypnosis can help break that desire so you are not consumed by chocolate.

Now, just as you can use the benefits of hypnosis to curb food addictions and desires, you can also couple this with the benefit to exercise. Obviously, the key to losing exercise is not just cutting back on the amount and kinds of foods eaten but also exercise.

With exercise, you will lose weight, tone the body, and improve overall health. Exercise motivation is something commonly suggested with hypnosis, allowing you to get excited about running, walking, swimming, biking, and playing tennis, or whatever activity you enjoy.

Through hypnosis, you will find yourself looking forward every day to spending some time doing something good for your body. Soon, time at the gym will be the highlight of your day.

Hypnosis will boost your subconscious mind, giving it drive so that exercise becomes a favourite pastime. Very quickly, your entire outlook on life will change as you begin to eat healthier and exercise, watching the pounds melt away.

Losing Weight the Healthy Way

Almost 108 million Americans were overweight or obese in 1999. Until now, obesity continues to be a serious problem and is predicted to reach epidemic levels by the year 2020. One way to prevent this scenario is to make people aware of the risks of being overweight or obese.

Here are some diseases that you are putting yourself in risk of if you are carrying a lot of extra pounds: 1. heart disease 2. stroke . 3. diabetes 4. cancer 5. arthritis 6. hypertension Losing weight helps to prevent and control these diseases. The quick weight loss methods which have spread like re these days do not provide lasting results. More often than not, dieting methods which involve dietary drinks, foods and supplements or pills do not work. If they do, the results are just temporary. It is better to rely on a healthy weight loss option which will provide lifetime results.

You have to set realistic goals and not expect to lose a lot of pounds in a short span of time. Here are some tips on how you can lose those unwanted pounds the healthy way: 1. Do not starve yourself. The key to a healthier way of losing weight is: Do not diet. You may seem happy and feel that you are losing those unwanted abs on your belly and thighs by skipping meals. But remember that this would not last long. Your body cannot tolerate having insufcient food to fuel the energy that you use up everyday.

If you get used to skipping one or two meals a day, your stored calories will be used up instead of the energy that should have been provided by your meals. So if you just eat one huge sandwich in one day, it will end up straight to your problem area (i.e. highs, buttocks, hips). 2. Start your day right. Mothers always say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Have a healthy meal in the morning to jump-start your metabolism. Your food intake after you wake up will be used to burn fat all day long. 3. Eat small, healthy meals frequently. Five small-serving snacks per day is better than three hearty meals. Eating more frequently, and in small servings, can prevent overeating. This will also increase your metabolism and make calories burn faster. 4. Decide on how much weight you want to lose. Keep your goals realistic. In the long run, it is virtually impossible for you to lose 40 pounds in 2 weeks. Have a mindset that you want to eat healthy to stay healthy for the rest of your life. Once you have decided on a weight loss plan or program, stick to it and make sure that you follow your own set of dieting rules. 5. Drink lots of water.

Your body needs suffcient water to burn fat and keep your cells hydrated and healthy. 6. Avoid too much sugar. Plan your meals around lots of fruits and vegetables, some bread, rice or pasta for that carbo x that you need, plus lean meat and protein rich-foods. Sweets, sodas and pastries should be once-in-a-while indulgences only. 7. Watch your fat intake. Fat is not the culprit to being overweight. You need this to keep your weight at the proper level. There is such a thing as healthy fats. Olive, peanuts and canola oil have them. Tuna, salmon and mackerel have omega-3 fats which is good for the heart. 8. Exercise. Leave your car if you are only going a few blocks from home, take the stairs instead of the elevator, jog, cycle or skate. Use these activities and other home chores if you are too lazy to go to the gym and take exercise classes. Make sure that you do this regularly and you will not even notice that you are already shedding pounds with these mundane activities. It does not matter how much weight you plan or need to lose. What is important is that you set realistic goals for yourself.

Go slow. If you have already lost 5 or 6 pounds, give yourself a break then try to lose the next 5 pounds. Eat healthy, drink lots of water, have enough sleep and exercise. This will give you a higher chance of losing weight and improving your health, which would result in a new, healthier you.

One of the most important things you can do when you are trying to get in shape is to pay attention what you are eating.

This does not take any time from your schedule and you will feel much healthier when you eat the right foods in the right proportions. One of the best ways to change your diet is to change to an organic one. It is good to increase the fiber in your diet, which will clean out your colon of all negative weight loss inhibitors

This means that instead of eating refined or processed foods, you should eat whole grain foods like brown rice and whole wheat bread. This has more fiber and less bad fats such as trans fat and cholesterol.

You should also increase your input of protein, minerals and vitamins. To do this it is good to eat more fruits and vegetables and substitute sh and chicken for red meat. These meats have less calories and fat and still provide more protein.

One of the most important parts of changing your diet is to completely eliminate junk food. This will include sweets, chips, popcorn, ice cream, milk shakes and soda. You can substitute fruits and vegetable snacks instead. Instead of sodas you can drink water or dilute juice with water for flavor.

You will find this makes a huge difference in your sugar and fat intake. You will feel healthier and have more energy when you change your diet.

At first you may feel a little different with the extra fiber and complete change in food but this will soon pass and your body will work better and more efficiently

What does it mean to eat mindfully?

Many people think of mindfulness as being synonymous with meditation, but in fact meditation is only one form of mindfulness. Mindfulness simply means bringing your attention to the present moment. It means tuning into the sensations you are experiencing right now, rather than constantly thinking about past and future events.

Mealtimes are an excellent opportunity to practise mindfulness, especially for beginners. Meditation can feel intimidating, as many of us find it hard to clear our mind of thoughts and worries. But when you apply mindfulness to eating, your mind has a point of focus.

Mindful eating means slowing down and really tuning in to how your food looks, smells, tastes, and feels as you eat it. It allows you to really enjoy the experience of eating, appreciate your food for the nourishment it provides, and recognize when you are full. It is a chance to relax and let go of your responsibilities, if only for a moment.

ABC of Losing Weight Holistically - Day 1

ABC's of Dieting, Weight Loss as easy as 1-2-3!!

When we are children, we learn our ABC's and are so proud when asked to recite them. Wouldn't it be great to recapture the same joy for life that you had when you were young? The same enthusiasm and happiness?

I have a way that you can do that! Re-Learn your ABC's...not the alphabet but the basics for living a healthy life.

A...always believe in your ability to succeed. This is important to success because if you do not believe that you can and will succeed in reaching your objectives...why would you try? I think that we give up and fail to reach our goals because we predispose ourselves to fail.

We think negative thoughts such as "the last diet didn't work, so this one won't either" or we listen to others tease us for "going on yet another diet". Put those thoughts and others like them out of your mind.

From today forward, believe in YOU.

Believe in your ability to take control over your situation and to improve every aspect of your life.

B...always be prepared. Many people write to me and say that they intend on eating a healthy meal but end up pressed for time and buy a fast food or a microwave meal

You know your lifestyle better than anyone. I cannot tell you what will work for you in each situation, but you can!

If you routinely are pressed for time, prepare for this, anticipate this happening. Being prepared means packing food from home before leaving for the day, do what you can to insure that healthy food will be readily available to you when you are hungry.

C...care for yourself. If you have not taken the time to do the self-discovery survey , do it today. Or take out a piece of paper and do it non-cyber way!

Write down ten adjectives right now that you would use to describe yourself, or just think of them in your mind.

What words do you select that best describe you? Are they positive words that signal a strong sense of self? Are they words that reflect the being that you are? Are the words that you chose negative and selfdepreciating? Do the words focus more on the condition of your body than of your personality and soul?

I want you to think carefully about the words that you selected. No one else can read them, no one else can hear your thoughts, and these are your private thoughts about yourself. Read them over. How do they make you feel? If you words are positive in nature, good for you. You will have a much quicker start on this journey. If your words are negative, ask yourself if you would ever use these words to describe a loved one or a best friend. If the answer is no, then you need to stop using them to describe YOU, the most important person in your life.

Now that you have your ABC's down, let's get to the 1-2-3's! To jumpstart your journey on the path of self-improvement through self-motivation all you need to do are the three easy steps which will be in the next post .

This Could Be The Reason You Can't Lose Weight ??

Helping You Lose Weight and do something more constructive with all the time and energy you put into thinking and trying to lose weight !!

OK that may be a little harsh .. but I’d really like you to sit down and think about how much mental and physical time and energy you have put into thinking about losing weight, trying to do something about losing weight and then feeling good or bad depending on how much weight you’ve lost or gained.

Is it more than 5% , 10%, 20% or even 50% of your waking time??

The problem is and you’ve probably heard this a million and 1 times before .. what you focus on is where your energy goes only thing is our brains don’t recognize negatives ..

As an example .. if I ask you not to think about pink elephants .. guess what you think about

you see in order not to think about pink elephants you first have to think about them !. Same with losing weight ..

Saying to yourself … I’m not going to eat xyz .. will focus your brain on exactly the thing you don’t want to focus on and because our brains are programmed to try and get what we need / want eventually you’ll end up reverting back to the things you are denying yourself… and it just goes round in an endless loop.

If you’ve been focused on losing weight for a long time your brain has learn .. literally that you go in spirals or loops .. yo’s as they are called.

As you know by now trying the latest diet will not work for long … it may well work short term .. when a new diet comes along your brain goes “hey the latest shiny shiny thing for me to lose some weight” and then you may lose some weight but guess what .. you end up putting it all and sometimes even more back on !

This is because of a few factors which I’ll post about later. but one of them is your mindset ..

I know you consciously want to lose weight otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this .. but there’s another part of your brain that has to be trained into making permanent lifestyle changes not short term stick a plaster on it and hope it stay there once you take the plaster off solutions

Anyway enough lecturing for today .. please keep an eye out for the next post were I’m going to give you some tips and ask you some questions about how you can change.
